Cut Out Animation

In this animation work I took a photo of Jack standing with his legs and arms away from his body and this was because when I came to cutting up his body in different parts on photoshop it was easier to cut around in, the reason I cut up the body in to different parts was because when I used it in the animation I could make the body do movements it normally can't. When it came to cutting out the different body parts I made the background transparent so that when I put the parts on to flash there would not be a white background around it, the first tool I used was the magic wand tool and this was to get rid of the background quickly, the way that this tool got rid of the background quickly was that when you selected one part of the background photoshop would select all parts of the background that are the same colour. After I got rid of the background I used the lasso tool to cut round his arms, thighs, legs, mouth and head so that when it came to the animating I could animate these parts separately. When I cut out each body part I put them on different layer on photoshop.
When it came to making the animation I had to put the body parts on different layers because if they were all on the same layer you would not be albe to move each body part separately and it would not give the animation the full effect. For my animation I had around 11 layers and this was for all the body parts   and one for the background. I made my animation by using the frame by frame instead of the motion tween option and this is because I can make the body parts do more things with frame by frame then using motion tween, with motion tween you give the object one way to move where as frame by frame it can be going from one direction to another.
This type of animation was inspired by Monty Python and how their opening scenes start.
